Frequently Asked Questions

What is your cancellation policy? If you need to, please cancel at least 48 hours before your scheduled session. If it is within 48 hours and for reason's other than what is out of your control (i.e. an act of God, illness, injury, natural disaster, etc.) you forfeit your retainer. If you cancel for a reason within your control after the 24 hour mark, and you've paid your remaining balance, you forfeit 50%. If I have to cancel your session and I am unable to reschedule your session fee will be refunded if already paid.

Do you allow pets at outdoor sessions? I unfortunately don't allow pets of any kind at outdoor sessions due to personal and liability reasons. I understand your pets are like members of your family, but it is my business policy. Sorry for the inconvenience! For in-home sessions, I ask that all animals be contained in another room, cage, or kennel during the duration of your session, especially cats, as I am severely allergic. Thank you for your cooperation!

What kind of photos do you capture? I shoot what is called "emotive" or "lifestyle" (also known as candid) photography. My goal is to capture my clients as their genuine, real selves.  I want to capture raw feelings and authentic moments. I want it to seem like I wasn't even there. However, I do offer some pose/position guidance and prompts to help things along. I don't require any one to look at my camera. Granted, if you want one or two of everyone looking and smiling for Holiday cards and such, let me know and I can do that!

Do I need to put down a retainer? Yes, you are required to pay a $100 non-refundable retainer to secure your session date, but it will apply to your total session fee. It is not additional. Retainers are only refunded if something happens that is out of either the Client's or Photographer's control such as; injury, death, natural disaster, act of terrorism, or other tragedy.

Do I have to sign a contract? Yes, you will be required to sign a legally binding contract prior to your session. It helps protect both me as the photographer and you as the client.

Can I post my images on social media? Yes, of course! I just kindly ask that you please tag my business page to give photo/video credit. It helps me stay in business!

Do you offer extended family sessions? No, I am not currently offering sessions for anything other than immediate family.

What is your turnaround time? My turnaround time varies, but typically it will take 2-3 weeks to get them edited and retouched. I do offer rush services if needed. You will be sent a link to your online gallery where you can download and share your images. If your link expires, I charge a $20 convenience fee to create a new online gallery for you. So please make sure you save and back up all of your images within 2 weeks of receiving them!

Do you provide sneak peeks? Absolutely! I send 3-4 photos within 24-48 hours after your session. They may not be fully edited, but they are to show how the gallery is coming along. Sneak peeks should not be saved or shared.

What if I am late to my session? If you are going to be late, please let me know, but if it is more than 30 minutes, your session may be rescheduled. If you do not show up at all, your session will be cancelled and will be charged 50% of the session fee. If I do not hear from you that you will be late, I will wait for 30 minutes, but no longer. After that amount of time, I may leave and your session will be cancelled. Please communicate with me, I do not want to have to cancel your session!

How soon should I book with you? It depends on the type of session. Ideally 6-8 weeks in advance, but sometimes I do have cancelations, which I will advertise open spots on my social media pages. During "busy season" (September 1st - December 1st) I recommend booking 2-3 months in advance.

Do you sell prints? I do not offer prints at this time. With your gallery you are granted full print release which is the right to print your images. You are welcome to use any company you see fit, but I do have a list of companies that I recommend (Miller's, MPix, Chatbooks, Shutterfly, Smallwoods + more).

Do you offer a Military discount? Most Definitely!! We are a Military family ourselves and we will always support the brave women and men who serve our beloved country, so I offer a 10% discount to Active Duty Military and Reserves (proof of ID required). GO NAVY!!
